Physical Health:
Nothing new to share here. I will share more when I know more.
Home Building Process:
Things are slowly happening. 🤣
Emotional Health:
My husband and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary recently. We obviously don’t have many ways to celebrate right now, so we just hung out and relaxed. As we were reflecting on this last year, my husband shared how grateful he is for the current state of our relationship. We have had to grow quite a bit as individuals and as a couple on this health journey, and we are in a great place at the moment. It is always good when you can look back on the work and see the benefits of that work. We have had to share the emotional load and pick each other up at various times, and I am grateful for the skills we have utilized in this area.

One part of a relationship that can easily fall by the wayside while living alongside an invisible complex chronic illness is expressing unmet needs. My husband and I are always grateful for each other, but chronic illnesses bring about a bunch of new needs that have to be addressed in order for the relationship to remain healthy. Both the person living with the illness and the caregiver have specific needs, and the needs of both people are valid and need to be addressed at various times. During the most difficult times in a shared life, communicating about individual needs can be easily forgotten. However, it is important to continue to express both gratitude AND unmet needs, and we have worked hard to do just that.

Side Note:
I am needing to be extremely mindful right now about where I spend my very limited amount of energy. My priorities are taking care of my health, working, building a house, and maintaining my close personal relationships. Therefore, my blog posts may be more sporadic as I spend my limited amount of energy in my prioritized areas. I will post updates when I can.
Brutal. Having a very limited amount of energy.
Beautiful. Celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary. Reflecting on the work we have done to maintain a healthy relationship during the most difficult time of our life to date.
Just another day of . . . This Brutiful Life: The Brutal & Beautiful Moments of My Life.
